History of Post Playhouse |
The Post Playhouse at the Fort Robinson State Park is proud to be presenting its 43nd Season this year. The Post has provided theatrical entertain for the community of Western Nebraska and for the tourists visiting the area for the past 40+ years. We appreciate our patrons, the local businesses, the community, and the visitors of Fort Robinson State Park. The Post Playhouse has undergone some exciting changes in the last three years. The first and most exciting was the expansion of the Board of Directors. By increasing the size of the Board we have opened new doors to offer our patrons the kind of productions they are interested in seeing during the summer months. We have also increased our production team, designers, technicians, and actors to give us the ability to produce larger, high quality musicals that our amazing audiences are hungry for. We can now produce a full summer of MUSICALS – and only musicals ALL SUMMER LONG. Professional auditions and interviews take place across the country in the spring so that we can bring the highest quality of talent available to our patrons. Tapping into the local talent is also vital for the success of the Post Playhouse. These auditions often happen via videotapes, and local auditions early in the summer. The Board of Directors also hired an Artistic Director to develop the artistic side for the Playhouse. Tom Ossowski, originally from Beatrice, Nebraska stepped into this role for the 40th Anniversary Season. His vision was to produce and direct the highest quality entertainment possible for the Panhandle of Nebraska. Productions directed and musically directed at the Post Playhouse include: Always...Patsy Cline, Hello, Dolly! Oklahoma!, South Pacific, Guys & Dolls, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown, Lucky Stiff, The Best of Broadway, and The Fantasticks! We have come a long way over the 43 years of community service. Although we no longer produce melodramas like they did in the 60s, we are proud that we still work hand-in-hand with Fort Robinson State Park, Chadron State College and that we are producing Broadway style musicals that our audiences are flocking to our theatre to see shows 6 days of the week all summer long. |
